Presenting condition:
Excruciatingly painful periods each month for the last 20yrs since she started her cycle. Each month she would vomit on day 1 of her period, as well as having 9/10 level of pain. She had to stay in bed all day for 2 days per month, and couldn’t manage daily activities.
Brief history:
Relevant timeline incidents:
16yrs Starts periods
36yrs Pre-period stomach cramps for up to 10 days, alongside bad PMT symptoms such as sore breasts, bloating and irritability.
Vomits on day 1 of her period. Pain is 9/10. Cannot function or work on day 1-3 of her period. No painkillers including prescription tablets work for her pain. She needs to meditate and then fall asleep to manage the pain.
Main remedy given: Sepia
After 1st prescription:
Period hasn’t arrived yet but already the PMT part feels different. Breasts are still tender but much less than before. Mental clarity is also good but has also been taking Lion’s mane mushroom supplements. Not agitated or irritable. No rage during her PMT time. Due to fly to USA for family wedding.
After 2nd prescription:
Period has returned to previous painful one. My menstrual cramp mix helped but not enough. Breast tenderness was vastly increased compared to last time, and PMT was also returned to original state. She didn’t vomit on day 1 of her period but felt nauseous. Pain was 7/10 so slightly reduced. I increased the strength of the Sepia.
After 3rd prescription:
Period was very good. Client was able to go to work as the pain was 1/10. The menstrual cramp mix worked as did the nausea mix. Breasts did feel tender and sensitive but no pre-period cramps and much less agitated than before. Client happy with the recommended magnesium cream as this helped with her cramps by applying this externally on the lower abdominal area.
Client ‘forgot’ she was on her period at work, resulting in her almost forgetting to change her tampon. She was focused and functional at work and was very pleasantly surprised as this had not happened for 20yrs.
Summary:
Client had excruciatingly painful periods of 9/10 which resulted in vomiting on day 1 of the cycle. She was unable to function properly on day 1-3 of her cycle. She can now got to work with minimal pain of 1/10, and vastly reduced PMT symptoms. She has no nausea or vomiting at this time, either.
