Urticaria Case study
Presenting condition:
2yrs of urticaria which presented as itchy skin with hives, redness, pinprick rash all over her body.
Brief history:
Hands, legs, back, face, head and neck all affected. Can’t wear tight clothing or have warm showers.
Relevant timeline incidents:
71yrs Beloved sister died in India. Too upset to attend funeral
72yrs Mother died from dementia which was a relief as it ended her suffering.
72yrs Ex-husband died. He was a violent and abusive man.
Main remedy given: Staphasagria
After 1st prescription:
Urticaria is less intense than before, down from 9/10 to 5/10. She is less irritated emotionally. Red patches on the skin are smaller now.
After 2nd prescription:
Skin is still itching but no external hives visible. She is feeling less ‘hot’ internally. Itching now 1/10. Emotionally she is much better and can accomplish a lot of things. All the red patches are now gone, and no new ones are appearing. Bowels are now firmer. She is able to wear slightly tighter clothing rather than a nightdress all day. Hope has been restored that she can recover!
After 3rd prescription:
Itching skin has got slightly worse again but mainly if it has been rubbed. Bladder is still hyperactive.
After 4th prescription:
Now has bad (2/10) days for itching and good (0/10) days for itching. Bladder is better and she has more control.
After 5th prescription:
Skin is now stable at 1/10 all over and occasionally is 0/10. Bladder remedies are working well to control her urination. Hair loss remedy has started to work as there appears to be some new hair growth.
Summary:
This lady had suffered from urticaria and hives for almost 2yrs before coming to see me. Her itching went down from 8-9/10 to 0/10. She is still suffering from hypertension, milia on the face, thin hair, breathlessness, and allergies. However, the lady discontinued treatment at this time.
